...dass der Heilige Nikolaus in Anatolien (heute Türkei) gelebt hat? Der heilige Nikolaus wurde ca. 300 n. Chr. in Patara (bei Antalya) geboren. Er war bis zu seinem Tod im Jahre 325 nach Christus Bischof von Myra. In Demre ist heute noch die Kirche des heiligen Nikolaus, wo er begraben wurde. Bald nachdem Sankt Nikolaus gestorben war wurden Kranke wundersam geheilt, wenn sie das Grab des Heiligen besucht hatten. Der heilige Nikolaus wurde über die Jahre zum Schutzpatron der Kinder, denen er nun jedes Jahr in der Weihnachtszeit Geschenke bringt.
